Introduction

PonsCS2 turns a CS2 skin into a coin on Robinhood Chain. The coin trades on a Pons bonding curve like any other, with one difference: the creator fee it generates is paid into a vault the coin itself owns, and that vault spends the money buying or selling the coin to pull its price back toward the item it tracks.

What a coin is

A launch picks one item — AWP | Dragon Lore (Field-Tested), say — and fixes a reference price for it: the median of real completed sales, not a listing. The coin's supply is then sized so that the market capitalisation Pons opens at is exactly that reference price, multiplied by however many skins the supply is declared to be worth.

From that point the coin is a claim on nothing. It is a price that a vault is paid to keep near another price. Every trade sends 0.70% of its volume into that vault, and once the gap between the coin and the skin passes 1.5% the vault trades against the curve to narrow it.

What it is not

  • It is not custody. No skin is held anywhere. Nothing you buy gives you a claim on an item, and no one can deliver you one.
  • It is not a peg. A peg implies a balance sheet large enough to enforce it. The vault holds whatever the coin's own trading has paid it, which on a quiet coin is close to nothing. The correct word is a nudge, and the arithmetic is on its own page.
  • It is not a stablecoin. The reference price moves. The coin is meant to move with it, not to sit still.

The number that decides whether this is for you

At the friendliest moment in a coin's life — the instant its curve graduates — the vault holds about 9% of what it would cost to close a 10% gap. Everything else on this site is detail next to that.

The shape of the system

Three pieces, only one of which we run. Pons owns the curve and the token; we supply the price the coin is measured against, and the vault that spends the fee.

  • SkinPriceOracle — holds the reference price for every registered item, written by signed reports and aggregated to a median.
  • PegVault — one per coin. Claims the creator fee, compares the coin to the skin, and trades when the gap is wide enough to be worth the cost. It has no withdrawal function, for anyone, including whoever deployed it.
  • PonsCurveAdapter — the shim between the vault and the Pons curve, whose ABI is not published and had to be read off the deployed bytecode.
